It had been over a decade since I last skated, but when my friend Ashley invited me over to rollerblade her neighborhood, I couldn’t say no. The 90’s baby in my heart had been craving a pair of blades since Tiktok began boosting skater girls in my feed!

I always had roller blades growing up- I have fond memories skating in my neighborhood, at the beach, and even at the skate park learning to drop-in back when I was a little daredevil. I did have one previous experience on roller skates (where the wheels are aligned in pairs instead of a single row); it was a rental at an elementary school sponsored skate night at the local roller rink. Even still, I found it easy to strap on the skates as an adult and ride!

Skating will always take me back to simpler times, I’m so happy to have captured our neighborhood skate adventure in such a perfect aesthetic. Now I am seriously considering investing in my own pair of skates!
